School ends, but the memories echo forever.

The Last Day of School: A Rollercoaster of Emotions

From Desks to Dreams

The last day of school is unlike any other day. It’s a strange mix of emotions—excitement, sadness, fear, and a whole lot of nostalgia. It’s a day when laughter and tears sit side by side, and memories are made, sealed, and carried forever.

We feel sad, not just because school is ending, but because we’re leaving behind a place that shaped us. Friends who felt like family, classrooms that became comfort zones, tiffins we couldn’t wait to open, PT periods that felt like freedom, the silly punishments we got for talking too much, the table tapping rhythms during boring lectures, last-minute homework copying—everything is now a memory. Even the long summer vacations won’t feel the same anymore.

But alongside the sadness, there’s excitement. We’re stepping into a new phase of life—the one we’ve dreamt about during boring classes. We imagine the freedom, the new adventures waiting for us. It’s like turning the page to a brand-new chapter in the book of life, full of possibilities.

Still, somewhere deep down, there’s also fear. A fear of the unknown. New friends, new teachers, new surroundings—it’s all unfamiliar and a bit scary. We’re walking away from everything we knew, toward everything we’ve yet to discover.

On that last day, we make promises that feel eternal.

“Oye bhool mat jaana, milenge zaroor!”

A line said with teary eyes and tight hugs, hoping time and distance won’t change bonds made in school corridors.

What many don’t realize is—school friends are not just friends. They are hidden followers of your life’s journey. Even if they’re not physically there, they live in your stories, your throwback laughs, and your old group photos.

We’ve all had our bunking moments—some of us skipping school only to be caught five minutes later. Others bunked classes with silly excuses like “I’m at annual dance practice” or “I’m with the teacher” (even though we clearly weren’t). Those were golden times, and we’d do anything to relive them.

And who can forget the PT period? The period we all waited for. Running in the ground, playing with zero pressure, planning chaos for the last day—

“Bhai, pankha ukhaad dunga… light tod dunga”—those mischievous promises we rarely kept, but always laughed about.😹

School life truly is the best phase of life. It’s where we began to understand the world, and more importantly, ourselves.

So, here’s to the last day of school. A day of goodbyes and new hellos. A day that may end a chapter, but begins a lifetime of stories.

We walked out of the school gates, but left a piece of our heart behind with every friend, every laugh, and every moment.
